Nyuk nyuk. I still think the whole thing was hardly a huge success. My guess is that industry followers, so impressed that any chip company was able to put together a polished (relatively speaking) marketing campaign, fell in love with it.

I maintain my stand that it takes many years of solid marketing to build a brand in the mass market that's really worth something on its own.

I swapped the drive for a new one, which seems to be functioning. But my confidence in the brand is damaged. <g>
