James, Jer. 33:16 "the Lord is our righteousness"
What Lord could that be referring to? Jesus? Yes, Jesus is our righteousness and what is being referred to is the New Covenant.
15 In those days and at the right time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to spring forth; and He shall execute justice and righteousness on the earth.
Jesus is this righteous Branch, God again prophesies the coming of Jesus the first time not the second!!! And God goes on to say He will multiply David's descendants, but it is the same as with the promise to Abraham, the children of promise are the children of faith, the born again believers.
22 "As the host of heaven cannot be counted, and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me."
How can God keep this promise in the flesh? The nation of Israel has always been small, just a few people. Not multitudes that no one could count. And Israel was cut off when the New Covenant was established in Jesus's blood. So how can this be fulfilled. It is a spiritual promise. The multitude is the saved who have come to Jesus (who is descended from David) and are also referred to in Revelation as a multitude no one could count, the same description as here in this prophesy!! God is Spirit and He thinks and does things in spirit. Too often some think in fleshly terms and think and interpret things in fleshly ways.
