Clark,

one of the biggest selling consumer electronics product being sold in China now is VCD players. The China made players are more popular because they come with a "button (?)" that improves the viewing quality of pirated VCDs. So much for respect of IPRs.

Having said that, I am not sure what a manufacturing facility would risk. None of us bought QCOM because they are great assemblers of cell phones. In fact, if they did not team up with SONY, we may not be looking at any QCOM phones at all.

There are thousands of OEM agreements in China now. If Mattel, Hasbro, Nike.... all figured out a way to protect their IPR or design patents, QOCM better be able to jump over that small hurdle.
