What would you think of a God who humbled Himself and became a man, submitted to ordinary men, laid down His own life to make a way for you mark to escape the destruction to come. He did this because He loves you and all mankind and wanted to make a way of escape from their bondage to sin. Then he made no condition you could not meet, only that you believe that He is God and Lord of all and was raised from the dead and ask for His salvation. He will freely give it to all who ask. But there is a time limit. Don't complain that at some point He is going to shut the door on this free gift. There has to be a conclusion.
