Carl Pergler: RESEARCH ALERT - IXC Communications <IIXC.O> LOS ANGELES, March 25 (Reuters) - Hambrecht & Quist LLC on Wednesday started coverage of telecommunications provider IXC Communications Inc with a buy rating, due to its position for capturing some of the rising demand for broadband services. -- said IXC could eventually be a "prime target" company in the industry consolidation that is now beginning. -- sees revenue growth of 50 percent in 1998 to a total $636.9 million from $421 million in fiscal 1997. -- Shares of IXC were up 3/16 at 59-3/4 by mid-afternoon.
