BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 25, 1998--Unisys Corp., which said in January that it would outsource PCs and entry-level servers, Wednesday announced an agreement in principle with the Palo Alto, CA-based Hewlett-Packard Co. [NYSE:HWP - news] to supply notebooks, desktops and Intel-based entry-level servers using a ''build to customer order'' (BTCO) process equivalent to Unisys current process.

Unisys, an information services and technology supplier, will focus its hardware initiatives on the design, development and manufacture of mid-range and high-end enterprise-class servers for mission-critical applications.

George Gazerwitz, president of Unisys Computer Systems, said ''The establishment of this cooperation with HP will provide our customers a high-quality, flexible, cost-effective solution to meet their PC-based requirements and enable Unisys to offer a full array of products and services. We expect the transition to be transparent to our customers.''
