O'Neill says to base it on your knowledge of the stock. I believe he recommends selling half of your 20% gainers (I believe that's half of the total number of stocks, not half of each individual stock). If you know a lot about the company and expect it to keep rising, don't sell. If you bought purely on technicals/CANSLIM, sell.

One important caveat. NEVER LET A 25% GAINER BECOME A LOSER!! I and I'm sure many others have made this mistake. If the stock gets close to your purchase price, sell and move on to the next stock.
