Tommy, thank you for your comment. The main problem created on the floor as a result of the referendum was a large increase in the volume of order tickets. To put it simply, there was difficulty in processing the number of orders that were entering the market.

In response to the situation that occurred following the referendum the TSE has created a pre-sort function. This function sorts orders entering the market, which assists the Specialist with order processing. Also, the TXO (Toronto 35 Index option) Specialist Unit has recently changed. There are now three individual Specialists, each of whom have a back up. Therefore, in extreme market conditions there can be six people processing orders. If necessary, additional TSE staff have been trained who can assist the Specialist Unit.
