Well, yes, the asparagus spears sound really delicious. I guess Jane is going to keep her vinaigrette a secret, so I will have to make do with my own, which is probably inferior. However, the unadulterated bliss of fresh asparagus at this time of renewal and resurrection is hard to beat, even with an average dressing.
I am not sure about the proscuitto CRUDO though, Janice!! Is this some sort of UNBLESSED proscuitto? Isn't all proscuitto saved, because proscuitto is innocent? Speaking of innocent, I have just discovered that Eve is apparently innocent of eating the apple in the Garden of Eden:
"Though the apple is said to represent the fruit of the tree of knowledge that tempted Eve, some scholars believe that the fruit may have been the pomegranate, which has been cultivated in the Middle East since at least 4000 BC.
A symbol of fertility, this round fruit with a leathery skin is packed with tiny seeds, each encased in a glittering little jewellike cell filled with tart-sweet, juicy pulp.
The red pomegranate is the most familiar, but the fruit also comes in yellow, green and white.
Some people simply take a knife to this fruit and whack it apart, then suck out the pulp. That method wastes considerable juice.
the best way to attack a pomegranate is to slice off the little crown, then score the thin skin vertically in quarters without penetrating into the seeds . . ."
I am wondering if someone has a nice recipe for pomegranate salad? |
