He drove a wedge between the old Iomega personnel who developed the Zip and Jaz drives and the phoney people he brought with him (i.e., Tim Hill et al). He took credit for something that he didn't do. He joined Iomega in early 1994 and even admitted that he didn't know what a disk drive was. The specs for the Zip Drives came out that same year and the product was on retail store shelves in early 1995. He tried to take full credit for this product and started to get rid of existing employees who were more responsible for developing the Zip and Jaz drives. This is in contrast to products that he is much more responsible for; RecordIt, Buz, and N.hand aka Clik! RecordIt and Buz are not within Iomega's core competency and contributes next to nothing to top line revenues. N.hand aka Clik was supposed to be a quick and dirty repackaging of the Zip technology. He has been working on this now for three years and it is nowhere near production. If only he didn't believe in his own phoney press releases and just recognized that he did a good job marketing the Zip and Jaz drives - Iomega, its shareholders, and kim Edwards himself would have been much better off - and maybe even had a chance for a real long term success.
