Ah, Wonder bread!! Also known as balloon bread, at least in California. I was not allowed to eat it as a child. My parents were intellectuals, and considered it unseemly. Now my daughter is not allowed to eat it either. It has never darkened the threshold of my house, except for once when I bought a loaf to clean some paintings. How weird, when one thinks about all the status implications of bread choice. I don't like feeling that snobby. Perhaps I shall buy some and serve it for dinner, just to get over all that garbage.
