The proletariat is indeed a scary thing. Imagine the millions of "job holders" out there, working just to get to the next weekend. Then they can go bowling Friday night, mow the lawn on Saturday morning, spend all afternoon watching back-to-back college games over beer and munchies, go out to overeat Saturday night, sleep in Sunday until the NFL doubleheader. This is their concept of life. You get the picture.

It's no secret that the proles can be manipulated. Politicians know that good old gang mentality is a wonderful thing when it's working in your favor. Homer Simpson, although slightly embellished, is not a completely original idea. Nor is Roseanne. Just consider all those who relate to them (and waste precious time watching). When they're riled, these people vote. Scare 'em! Get 'em angry and confused! Conjure up a huge crisis, paint it all over your opponent, and graciously offer yourself as the only saviour from said problem. Oh, and cut their leaders (union bosses) in on a piece of the pie so they'll help stir the pot. Yeah baby, it's us against them. He'll protect our jobs and force them Japs to back down. He'll protect medicare so I ain't gotta pay for ma's nursin. He'll champion the umpteen dollar minimum wage until Junior can get himself a union job. He'll rail against those slimey business-owners. Jeez, I'm getting cynical!
