Alcatel and Cisco Join to Integrate Internet and Telecom Solutions
In June 1997, Alcatel and Cisco expanded their relationship to develop complete networking solutions for carriers and Internet service providers, with a primary focus on developing network backbone and access solutions. The partnership will allow service providers to deploy advanced services more quickly and efficiently.
Alcatel will integrate Cisco IOSTM software technology into several products used by service providers such as Alcatel ATM and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) switches, with possible extension to SONET/SDH transmission and GSM mobile networks solutions.
