Leg of Lamb, yes we truly enjoy it also,authentic and fresh garlic, and all the special trimmings but no rosemary please. _____ _____
That most precious High Holy day....My Lord's resurrection.But did you know the word Easter is not in the manuscripts. It appears only once in the Bible and it should have been passover....not Easter.
Here is where it is used. Acts 12:4
4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. But the word used was actually passover, some pagan decided to use the word Easter in the english version.
Easter #3957 pascha (pas'-khah);
of Aramaic origin [compare 6453]; the Passover (the meal, the day, the festival or the special sacrifices connected with it):
KJV-- Passover.
The word Easter is originally from Ishtar, a pagan goddess. It was around the beginning of spring that the pagans gathered together and celebrated the spring equinox by having orgies....Hence easter bunnies! They also prayed to another of their many their goddess who they referred to as the queen of heaven, and tradition has it that she dropped an egg from heaven on their orgy festival...hence the Easter egg!
Now of course this pagan tradition came about thousands of yrs ago, and began to creep into (unawares),the Christian celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus the Christ, the Saviour of the world....and I suspect not by accident did it creep in.
Enjoy your resurrection day celebration Janice...with or without rosemary Shalom...><> |
