It doesn't matter what his original purchase price on ECGOF is, if his entire brokerage account has no margin balance available due to other purchases or even for removing cash, any downward movement in his account would trigger a margin call. Its happened to me several times during the Asian contagian and it is not pretty. We still, of course, have no idea whether or not this actually happened to McGinnis. I personally don't think that management is trying to scam anyone, they have just made some poor, inexcusable decisions which have really blown up in their faces and in the faces of the investors.
