Vapor!? D.O.A.
Strong intial sales to Iomega investors, then, Nada.
Mom likes her $25 film camera just fine. She drops off the used film at the grocery store while shopping, then by the the time she's done, the pictures are ready. This is a ritual Americans are used to which will be hard to break. Don't look for a $200 disc drive to do it, on top of a $500 camera.
Vapor! will do nothing to lower the price of digital cameras. The makers of these cameras are comfortable with these high price points. Instead of lowering the price of the cameras, they will instead keep the prices where they are, and improve their features- better lenses, better CCD chips, bigger and bigger flash cards, etc. These price points have been carefully researched. I know. I was involved with an Ad company for Casio. They have their price points carefully chosen, and will discontinue older models to keep the prices right where they are as newer models are introduced. |
