FCC Auctions Ended 3/25/98 !

(This summary of the LMDS auctions final round is from Simmons Associates.)

03/25/98 The FCC's LMDS auction ended this morning in its 26th day. The auction continued into today thanks to a single bid in the last round yesterday. Continuing the trend of targeted bids in late rounds, Eclipse surprised experts and topped Nextband for Salt Lake City-B for $2.6M.
This was only the second Top 50 license to receive a bid in the last 72 rounds. Total bids almost reached the $581M mark for the auction. The A Block netted $417M, or $1.90 per POP, and the B Block netted $162M or 64 cents per POP. Almost 8% of the spectrum was unlicensed.

For Round 127, the last round of bidding on Day 25, Simmons Associates' LMDS auction summary stats are as follows:
