Which only goes to prove my point further. 3COM is keeping the price point up there, but improving the quality of the product. While this makes it a more attractive product, it does little for putting a Palm Pilot in every pocket.

Camcorders are another good example, and right along the same lines as a digital camera. Camcorders have stayed at the same price points for ages, but the quality and features have improved with time. These companies could easily keep selling their older models dirt cheap, but instead discontinue them and keep the price points exactly where they are. Digital cameras are no different than camcorders in this regard.
