First Y2K, now the Euro effect

'MOST Australian companies do not yet understand the impact the Euro will have on their IT systems, an industry expert has warned.

Mr Lloyd said it was possible that large companies could shift to the Euro as their preferred currency rather than, say, the US dollar.

If that happened, trade with Asia could easily be conducted in Euros.

"What is being created is the world's largest economy and the second-largest currency bloc. This will change the whole global competition scene," he said.
