Hey!!!! That's out of context! You pulled the quote and omitted the "(conservatively)" warning that I put before it! It may be much more. I'll have to check later. Even if it is say 50% non PC, I actually think there maybe quite a bit of PC related buying - for example Network Interface Cards for PCs. The something bone is connected to the thigh bone.... PC buying also drives other sales - say Printers and UPSs and other such things indirectly. So those peripheral guys and whoever makes their chips get hit. The other point is the market is often not very fine with sector distinctions. They throw the babies out with the bath water.

OK - let's see INTC does around 25 billion - let's say 80% is PC related. That's 20 billion. I would expect virtually all DRAM to be PC based or pretty close. That's another 25 billion or so. So so far 45 billion out of global sales of 150 billion or so. Now hard drive industry is entirely PC based. Hmmm... how big is the hard drive chip industry??? Darned if I know.... Hmmm. I'll have to double check what portion is PC based.

Shane.
