Tax records: another plus for E*Trade.

Tax time is here again and E*Trade's "Tax Records" page shows all of last year's trades with everything Uncle Sam requires in chronological order by security - very helpful! I haven't seen that offered in either of the other 2 brokers I have used.

I do have several more suggestions.

This time I'd like them to assume a default setting of portfolio 1 when I select "Stock Watch" and display it immediately (instead of asking me to select. I can always change it to another portfolio from that screen. This cuts out that time consuming intermediate step - big +. The same logic might also be applied to the "View a different Portfolio" page if there are only 2 accounts.

I had my wife open an account with E*Trade also and it's in her name. However, I can't access her account if I have accessed my account during any of my Netscape sessions (I believe ET sends a cookie and it hangs around until I close all Netscape sessions). I can get around this by also opening a Internet Explorer session simultaneously (because it would keep a separate cookie for itself).

I once called E*Trade to explain my problem but the representative's answer was to get a notarized form to them adding me to the account (I'm not convinced the rep and supervisor really understood the problem). To circumvent the issue it would seem to me that I should be able to be prompted for her account/password (that would be reasonable) and to get to it *without* having to close *all* my current browser sessions (just destroy the cookie or whatever) - connecting to E*Trade might not be the only thing I'm doing. That would be much more convenient. I suppose it's also possible that the problem might be more challenging depending on the browser and version so it *might* be difficult to fix.

OK - I started the timer <G>.
