>Pat, Alcatel's ATM switches could be classified as pure ATM "giant" switches. These live deep in the provider backbone taking ATM in (usually 155Mb/s or 622Mb/s or 2.4Gb/s) and switching ATM out (at same speeds). ASND or CSCO or NN or any other of the data networkers we are familiar with provide ATM edge switching. I'm sorry, but you couldn't be more wrong. ASND has the only 2.4Gb/s ATM interface on the market. Alcatel has no competing product for the core.
