The US West statement seems to me to be the opposite of encouraging. ''While this technology will require further development before it is suitable for deployment, we're pleased that we're well positioned now to move forward should LMDS offer the right fit for our customers.'' This means they are not planning to do anything now with their frequency, no rollout of service. Not helpful to those who hope to see effective deployment of services nationally. Not a statement of confidence that LMDS is ready for prime time. Another example of an RBOC paying to keep competition out of their own territory.
