Tom, "... it is highly probable that some layers, which means some years, there was a higher concentration of metal in the runoff and sediment deposit than others." I agree completely with this, but perhaps consistency of deposition is only half of the issue. It may be that because of the the nature of the ore and the complexity of processes required to liberate PMs from it, repeated testing of the same samples is destined to always show variability.
