Paracelsian Signs Letter of Intent with Murdock Madaus Schwabe
ITHACA, N.Y., March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Paracelsian Inc. (Nasdaq: PRLN - news) announced today that it has signed a Letter of Intent with Murdock
Madaus Schwabe of Springville, Utah to negotiate an agreement for the development and implementation of a comprehensive ''functional'' quality assurance
program. This unique program will be based on in vitro and other biological assays designed to establish and confirm, on a batch to batch basis, the bioactivity of
the products of Murdock Madaus Schwabe, whose products, sold under the Nature's Way label, are considered to be the industry standard for quality and
consistency.

quality assurance leader,'' stated Bernie Landes, President and CEO of Paracelsian. ''Consumers will now be able to have a high degree of confidence that
products will actually deliver the benefits suggested by the 'structure and function' claims on their labels in addition to knowing that they contain the materials listed
on the label,'' he added.
The Agreement further calls for discussions regarding the development of innovative new products based on Paracelsian's substantial library of Traditional Chinese
Medicine extracts and other herbs and botanicals uniquely available to Paracelsian or to Murdock Madaus Schwabe.
Paracelsian maintains a constantly expanding library of plant extracts (currently numbering in excess of 2700) that have been used in the practice of Traditional
Chinese Medicine. These extracts have been screened for specific activity as anti-proliferative and anti-viral agents. The company continues to screen the collection
to identify other unique benefits that these extracts provide, both individually and in combination. These extracts are the result of an ongoing agreement with the
Institute of Nutrition and Food Hygiene in Beijing, China.
Paracelsian Inc. is a company engaged in the development and application of cell-based and biochemical assays (including its proprietary ''signal transduction''
assays) to identify and develop promising new dietary supplements, over the counter remedies and pharmaceutical compounds derived from herbs and other
botanicals. The company also provides Quality Assurance services, which utilize these ''biofunctional'' assays to assure consistent batch to batch biofunctionality of
herb and botanical based dietary supplements and over the counter remedies carrying label claims describing their benefit or function.
