I've always been a bit vague about exactly what he does at Pixar.
Nothing! He's really out of his element there, and this heard from a friend who's "best friend" is mid-level project manager.
This is purely my own personal speculation (ino, read it as and actual fact tomorrow on MacOS Rumors), but I think SJ's been trying to sell out of Pixar while the company is flying, and wants to get that out of the way before committing to aapl.
He'd be set for ten life-times, and free to do what he really wants, which is run aapl (and esp. control the spin on aapl, which was his true joy back in the 80s). Not to psychoanalyze things too much, but I read his walk-off on CNBC only one way: he wants that job.
In short, he'll take the job. . .
