"No Wintel complaints please, this one is due "SOLELY" to superior management execution"

Hardly "SOLELY". The seeds of this non sequitur are contained in the use of Wintel (not Intel).

By the way, RISC comes in more than one flavor and is an architectural direction not any particular chip. The Merced will also be a RISC chip, and the industry has pretty much decided that RISC is the way to go. If you have the time, there are two very readable books on these issues by Patterson and Hennessy

Computer Organization and Design
Computer Architecture: A Quantitative Approach

Hardware architecture is not a black art and neither is chip production. There are solid market reasons why Intel is dominant (i.e., the PC), we don't have to reach into the mystical to explain it.
