hey Jim --- I just ordered a 56K modem for $70 from my computer sales rep. I should have it tomorrow. BTW, he sent me this link: x2.usr.com It provides detailed instructions on how to test your modem line to see if it can support x2 technology. Pretty neat. I ran the test and then called him and ordered the modem. Oh. I talked to my ISP and they say they see connection speeds in the high 40's and low 50's all the time on their 56K service --- which is no extra cost. David ps --- I thought $70 was a deal!!! edit --- Oh, I forgot to mention. I also bought a scanner with 600x1200 dpi "optical" resolution. It arrives next week. I'm just dying to get it hooked up and working. I've got a LOT of photos to scan, right lisa?
