There may be more than 640 days left until the turn of the century, but many companies already are starting to experience glitches related to the Year 2000 issue in their computer systems, a new survey says.

According to a report released today by the Information Technology Association of America, 44 percent of
respondents said their organizations have experienced such failures under actual operating conditions, and 67 percent reported failures under test conditions.
