DCF Your assumed responsibility to teach others about your particular view of faith and worship is in itself commendable. I do believe that the "teaching" has to be tempered with tolerance and acceptance for opposing views. The opposite of that, taken to extreme, is what leads to Crusades and Holy wars. I am sure that no rational person thinks God believes that is in his/her best interests.
There also has to be a willingness on the part of the "teachee" to listen. If that is not there, you obviously cant force it on that person.
If people show a willingness to consider the viewpoints of others with a certain amount of grace, an open mind, and an understanding that it is okay to disagree as long as it is without animosity, I think religous intolerance would start to become a thing of the past.(hows that for a run on sentence!) I also think that is the real approach to spreading God's word.
That said, I am happy to share our various viewpoints with each other. As I have said many times before, I have only the greatest respect for the Christian religion as I understand it. I just have a viewpoint that is more all inclusive as far as the world's population goes.

One other thing, just to make sure that there are no misunderstandings. I am in no way accusing you of not doing any of the above things. I was speaking purely in a general sense. :-) |
