Mike,
If you can believe this, I've never had occasion to cross the Antioch Bridge. It's about 26 miles east of me, on my side of the pond, and I've never even seen the contraption. What makes the Antioch Bridge so special?
As for cheap thrills on Northern California bridges, aside from the obvious Bay Bridge, I'd nominate the 84. Talk about Great America! BTW, has the 84 been given a real name?
Not a bridge, really, but that temporary overpass from the southbound 680 to the 24 has got to take the carnival's plaid rabbit of highway horrors. I drove it once. It was an accident. I thought my offramp came before the overpass, but it suddenly loomed before me, and up I went. I got over it with lot of good ol' self-hypnosis. I kept telling myself I wasn't really on a two-lane thingy with no shoulders or visible guardrails, 300 feet up in the air, with a Mack truck ridding on my bumper. BTW, the truck had Tennessee plates; the registration was current. Whew!
