More WinHEC news. Microsoft did not release specifics for each segment, but said preliminary basic PC 99 requirements are: a processor equivalent at least to a 300MHz Intel Celeron MMX with 128K L2 cache, 32MB RAM (64MB recommended), a 56K-bps modem and BIOS support for Universal Serial Bus keyboards and hubs. Recommended changes: digital broadcast TV included and CD-ROM drives replaced with DVD drives. A longtime legacy feature, the ISA bus, will be abandoned. techweb.cmp.com
