I think you have a good "read" on it. But I am staying away from HMTT because I think the overcapacity in media is rapidly exceeding the overcapacity in disk drives in general. I base this on continued expansion among Japanese vendors and the decline of platters per drive that is expected. Also the increasing capacity of internal uppply programs.

I agre with youe observation about deep war chests at IBM and Seagate. I also think Fujitsu has a deep war chest.

Those that are thin include WDC (they stupidly spent their war chest on their own stock at 44 bucks a share and now have diluted with a convertible), Komag, STMD, AMC, and RDRT.
