I disagree. I do not consider the current lineup of G3 boxes to be suitable platforms for Photoshop. Limited ram upgradeablity and IDE hard drives limit these machines to consumers seeking hot boxes.

Knowledgeable graphics professional know this and have kept buying the older 604e line.

I know that Adobe recently discontinued a program of bundling Photoshop 4.0 with low/mid end scanners from Microtech and UMAX because they were losing too much money on the deal.

Such scanners were selling for $450-550 which is barely more than the software itself. If I were buying a computer for the first time there's no way I wouldn't take that deal, but if I had been already using it ... etc.

That said, how much the market will actually react is anybody's guess, but given the volume purchases on the dips I don't think it will be for long.
