Hi Keith:
"Are they available anywhere for free on the web?"
Yes! One of my favorites is: cbs.marketwatch.com

"I seriously do not know how to read a MacD chart"
Start here for a free TA book on the web:
equis.com

I use a number of indicators together, to determine buy, and most of these indicators have time periods you can vary from short to long depending upon your preferred holding time...I tend to use shorter times because pennies can move pretty fast.

Bollinger Bands, MACD, RSI, and Williams%R for screening any stock, and all free and fast at the site above.

You have to use more than one to decrease the risk...check out MACD at the Equis site and then I can give some examples if you wish...you may want to run some of your favorite stocks to see the result...you have to enter the stock and an exchange code...eg: EGD-VC

:-)
