<One of the beauties of this tech revolution is no one really knows what will happen >
MSFT has broken some new ground with 'chrome', an interface which creates 3D graphic images on the client side but only sends commands on the server side, thus allowing a rich multimedia experience even with today's limited bandwidth. But guess what - it uses a whole lot of computer horsepower to get there. I have played with the beta version and it is pretty compelling. As has been true for at least the 30 years I have been in this business, the trend is for today's hot features and high priced systems to become tomorrow's mainstream, and a new set of high end stuff appears for the 'power users'. As long as the high tech community keeps innovating, there is no end in sight for this cycle. I have a 2 year old and a five year old, both are very comfortable using the hottest systems available today. Obviously the 2 year old has much better computer literacy than normal language skills and is limited to programs that talk to her with lots of pictures, but she has no trouble navigating the system. For them this is just another part of the complex world they live in, as much a part of their world as TV was to me 45 years ago...
