For personal use, my WAG for unit sales is 55% business and 45% consumer. Virtually all of the higher asp business sales are Intel. There are some estimates that alternative PC's have captured 35-40% of retail sales. If true, that is pretty much in line with the 80% number for Intel share of the total PC market.

Recent Compaq turmoil has created a lot of uncertainty (much of it may be unwarrented) - and Tom Kurlak is using this to advantage and further his own agenda. But Michael Dell seems unperturbed - and gives the rest of us some hope that it is nothing but over amibitious Compaq making some bad calls.

Almost like those Arab oil ministers - cheating on each other and screwing up the market for themselves - when they have a terrific thing going.
