Commercial Web Filtering Solution SmartFilter(TM) for the German
Market

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Secure Computing Corporation (Nasdaq: SCUR - news) and the
Industrial Projects and Technical Services Group of Siemens today announced the availability of a high-performance,
server-based and professional Web filtering product specifically adapted to the German-speaking market. Siemens has
localized and modified Secure Computing's SmartFilter(TM) Control List to be consistent with the demands of the
German speaking international marketplace.

Growth of the Internet and usage of the World Wide Web has grown exponentially worldwide over the past few years.
According to W3B 1997 survey, more than three quarters of German users connected to the Internet are using it for
business or scientific purposes. Most of the time the Internet is used as a tool searching the Web for news, product
information, professional research or software downloads. Yet according to the same survey, more than 60% of those
find themselves surfing for personal interest (entertainment and communication).

''Today companies rely on their employees' ability to utilize the Internet as a tool, downloading the information they need
to be more competitive and more productive. However, network administrators must be careful that they control the
amount of bandwidth used internally. SmartFilter allows network administrators to manage resources with intelligence
granting access to the Web based on individual identity, group identity, site content and/or time of day,'' said Ralf
Sonnefeld, Internet Team Project Manager within the Siemens ATD's Information Technology Services for Industrial
Plants business unit.

In addition to the development of the German SmartFilter Control List, Siemens will provide technical support, marketing
and distribution in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for both the German and international SmartFilter Control List. The
combined control lists will allow multinational companies to provide effective Web monitoring and filtering across linguistic
boundaries.

''By strategically partnering with Siemens, Secure Computing is allowing multinational enterprises to use the new
multimedia infrastructures while being sensitive to differences of language and culture,'' said Patrick Regester, Vice
President of International Operations at Secure Computing. ''The Web is changing from predominately English to
multilingual content. The German speaking market is a dominant player in the generation of Web content and Web
growth.''

About the SmartFilter Control List

speech, politics and religion, sex and sports. The Control List is updated weekly and access can be granted or denied
