A synopsis for what it is worth,
My SWAG on recent events and where we are headed:
AMEX/NASDAQ Listing - Not needed. Would have been nice to have obtained last year as it would have helped support our stock price so we could make acquisitions with less of our shares as payment. I would bet that there isn't even anything in the works right now heading in the direction of listing. If a buyer wants our assets, who cares if we are listed. Listing is for luring investors for the long haul, we are clearly looking for BUYERS of the whole kitten kaboodle in the short term.
PR Firm - Not needed. No wonder Murphy isn't using them. Again, we need investors only to try to suppport the shareprice right now so we don't have to pay more shares for acquiisitions. We don't need a PR firm to find a BUYER for the whole company. I predict that we do not see further use of the PR firm at all.
WEBSITE - Not needed. No wonder the website is STILL sorely outdated. Again, it is a tool for luring investors and it sounds like we are looking more for a BUYER. We do need regular investors but this has taken a back seat and it seems clear why - BUYERS don't care about our website. I predict it may get cleaned up just because it was promised to be in the works(mgt saves face).
Divedend/Buyback/Newsletter/Waves... - I believe they are all attempts to just keep stability in the stock price so aquisitions will complete and again so we don't have to fork over too many more shares to complete the deals. Remember, Murphy is very shrewd and has the big picture in mind at all times. He is NOT wasting effort anywhere in my mind. Each event had a purpose.
Buyout Price - Just a gut feel, but I think $6-$8 is what will happen . We generally have overshot on this site with speculation. Just look at the speculation on share prices when we thought we had 5 significant waves coming in Nov/Dec! Some folks had us at $5 now. Grupo was gonna bet his entire portfolio on us being at $5 by Feb 98 with Bill France(oh where oh where is that happy houligan??).
WHEN - All of you who have followed this stock as long as the the Grupos, Medskers, Galpeers, Hairless, Timbos.of the world have..know that strength has been shown in the late spring and summer months. Geeze when I was out in Atlanta for the Olympics, I was stopping at pay phones in between events and we were climbing 1/8 every couple of hours! Again, IF a buyout occurs, my feeling is August/Spetember. I don't believe it makes sense for this to take place late in the year when we all lament on how the BB's are getting killed in the annual BB selloff late every year. Our sale should take place during strength of the stock price and the overall market(might mean all of those items I said earlier that weren;t needed might need to play a role in keeping share price strong but I feel that the balance sheet is going to drive the sale not our share price anyway).
WHO - Well, I really don;t have a clue here. I am not sure anyone does yet, not even Murphy. Just to pick someone, I will pick SMTK. Why not get all of your shares back as well as some great assets!
Balance Sheet - I expect to see that continue to excel. I don't think many of us realize exactly how significant the improvement has been here. Murphy is a genius!
Operations from earnings - I don;t expect much in the way of improvement which is why I knocked off 25% in my buyout prediction. I think there may be signs of life from some of the startups but I just don't see this improving tremendously. I think we DO have to show something here, otherwise how good are these assets we are touting? As long as steady progress is shown, we are all right. I don't see the need for a BREAKout qtr as this really isn;t a long term play anymore(let's not fool ourselves).
With all of that said ----
I do not feel the need to post anymore(I think I hear the party poppers and champagne already!) as I am happy with letting Murphy guide us to the end and I can feel the tension in almost all "voices" on the thread(even the most positive folks). Shameless bickering over who has an email address and credibility(as if it mattered and was a requirement to post) will give folks much to talk about until "the event". I do hope nothing "stupid" is leaked that screws everything up.
I would like to say a final THANK YOU(well I am sure I will give one more in August) to Mr Murphy for his efforts and to Grupo for all of his efforts to keep our heads focused
