Gaming may be a great sector bet. I don't recall exactly but I think they are one of the relatively few underbought sectors in the market the last time I looked. Not sure. But long term I love certain areas in the leisure industry - all those retiring boomers means leisure will do very well over the next several several years.

The only gaming stock I have ever owned is IGT last year - it's left me now. The only thing about the industry that I could never get was the dependence on casino building etc. I actually was going to get SLOT but passed because I think it reminded me of a big family run company and I was not sure I trusted them. Dumb - I think that stock tripled last year over a very short time.

And not too much "morally" wrong with owning gaming stocks - at least they don't claim that you face no risks doing it since it is not addictive! The one catch with those stocks is that I do not feel I can trust anything the people in that industry say - including the company financials. Must be paranoid...

Any way here's something I stole from the IDTI thread when I did a search for LSI. It relates to the next generation PlayStation:

next-generation.com

PlayStation 2 to include Web TV?

Sources close to the PlayStation 2 project have revealed that
Sony is seriously considering Web TV capability for its next
generation console.

While Internet connectivity is all but assured for Sony's next generation
videogame console, the means to that end may come as a bit of a surprise.
Sources very close to the PlayStation 2 development team have revealed that
Sony could likely partner with Microsoft's Web TV to provide Internet
access.

The move would be beneficial to both sides, as Sony would be able to market
their console as both a gaming platform and a settop Internet browser, while
Microsoft would add legions of new users to its online services. Sony
officials would neither confirm nor deny the inclusion of Web TV
compatibility in its PlayStation 2 console.

Not sure how LSI will be affected by this for the next gen. chip. But since it is still in the "consideration" stage PlayStation worries are still sometime away I think. Man do you remember all those idiotic rumors last year! What dufuses!

Perhaps Sony will do the entire thing itself. They probably have the talent and the fabs by now. Then again they may rely on LSI's experience in all the relevant fields - STBs, games, internet on a chip...

But to be honest I am not taking into consideration Sony PlayStation related revenue for the next generation chip. The current chip is great but I do suspect the entire business may go away in the next few years. But still plenty of gas in the tank so no need for n/t worries...
