Ken, good idea to keep a reminder. Your rules are mostly good, but don't stay out of startups. Treat startups differently, but don't stay out. Remember, CSCO, INTC, etc. were all startups.
Startups need to meet milestones. That's how you judge them. If they miss one milestone, ok. But if they miss 2, 3, 4, dump them. Startups need to be nimble. If something is not working, they need to be able to change course quickly. If they stick to a losing strategy, dump them. Startups need to be honest. And startups need to show real value in their product.
