Sam and all: You find such potent and widespread manipulation so difficult to believe because, like you say people basically refuse to believe all they have learned about the stock market doesn't apply. You don't hear about the specialist or MM's because well you're not supposed to. All you're supposed to know about them is what supposedly their "purpose" in the market is as given to them by the SEC. You're not supposed to know how much money they make, or the massive shares of stock they control, etc...If you want to read up on this stuff, there are a few links on the SI Member Login page. I also suggest you go to the library and look up a man call Richard Ney, he is THE MAN.
