AOL is WAY different. AOL is sending you a disc that you need to take advantage of a free sample of their service. And it's not advertising anything else. If you're interested in AOL, you will put the disk in, load the software, and try the service. When you're done loading the software, you remove the disk and either set it aside or throw it away. If you're just not interested in AOL, then, like most of us, you will toss the disk. (Personally, I'm saving them, I think some of them will be valuable collector's items. :) )

Contrast this with what you would be asked to do with an advertising DVD. Put this DVD in your drive, and KEEP IT THERE ALL THE TIME WHILE YOU SURF. Periodically, we will ANNOY YOU WITH ADS that are loaded from your DVD.

Yea, sure, I want to devote a DVD slot to THAT!
