Bob, The implication on this news goes far beyond Int. Murex and the SUDS test , since the Big Gorilla ( ABT ) now has a clear open window into the rapid POCT HIV markets in the USA. abbott.com Murex had a law suit against ABT in the amount of $ 100 million so Abbott just bought them out. As you know Abbott Labs makes one of the HIV " cocktails " and now they have a rapid HIV test. It will be very interesting to see where these tests will be priced in the retail market. Sanofi Pasteur also has toyed with idea of introducing their Genie I and Multi-Spot HIV test but choose to forgo the US retail markets because of the price competition. ~~ stay tuned ~~~
