Victor,

Don't be leveraged, margin or otherwise. Don't sell puts on extended stocks.

Nothing that can lose more than your investment. Those rules work anytime, actually.

And don't be fully invested. Sell rallies to a comfortable level of cash and wait for bargains.

Buy puts? Maybe. They're awfully expensive, which means too many are still hedging. Trying to pick a top can kill you. Already over priced shares are getting more and more over priced. We may even still have a blow off. Leap puts bought on over priced stocks on up days will probably work out over time. But if you wait until the top is in you will be able to make money shorting or buying puts on rallies for a very long time.

Cash isn't bad. You can't lose money earning interest. You at least earn interest if the market continues up. If one is leveraged and wrong you can lose much of what you have gained over these last 3 years.

Good luck,

Dwight
