swamp fox, pretty hard to beat American Century Income and Growth Fund. It was set up to capture 90% of the upside on the S&P, but only 70% of the downside. What are the results? It has actually beaten the S&P for 1,3 and 5 years as they have been advertizing heavily lately.I hate to see this kind of promotion but it has preformed in an excellent manner. There are two additional features that I like, its' expense ratio is 75 basis points, higher than an index fund but lower than most income and growth funds, and the fund pays its dividend monthly which helps in the compounding department.
