The nice thing about this company is that they are still building. An oft heard comment in the telco business is "...when the QWST build is complete..." or "as soon as QWST gets there..." I don't recall ever seeing a business quite like this - a company who has managed to grow at this pace and remain consistently (and highly) profitable throughout that growth.

The comparisons between QST and IXC and QWST and Level-3 are moot. QWST is laying infrastructure at an unprecedented magnitude. IXC has been trying to lay fiber between Dallas and LA for over two years now and has been hung up in Phoenix for that long. They are cheap, and this is why they are doing as well as they are, but I highly doubt this will be enough to sustain growth. QWST salespeople are moving fiber capacity at retail at prices lower then IXC wholesale. Because they can. IXC, as a reseller, can't. The industry must have had a big chuckle when they read the analysts comments to the contrary. She's obviously never done business with IXC.

Let's talk about Level-3 when they have a product or a network. Until then, this is a brokers pitch, and a lotta hype.

I am long on QWST, and as they build, I'm adding to that position. This is probably the strongest long term play I have ever seen.
