There was a good article in this week's Business Week magazine (October 28 issue, page 168) on PictureTel and its future prospects. To sum it up the best I can...

Intel has come out with new version of its Proshare software for desktops. This Christmas, Compaqwill bundle Proshare on some models, and other major PC makers are expected to follow. The article says that PictureTel will cope by consolidating its lead where Intel isn't, in group videoconferencing, while keeping a hand in at the low end.

They are going to continue to sell the $1,500 live 200 system for PCs but don't expect to make any money doing it because price competition will be intense. They will ensure that their group videoconferencing systems work with Proshare and other desktop systems that home-based workers and others might use to join in a videoconference. The quote says: "We plan to be the glue that will hold video-conferencing together".

This just sums it up. I recommend reading the article (it's only 1 1/2 pages).
