I don't think Dunn is one of the KE team. He is one of the Idanta partners (which were 5 and now are down to 3). They go back a long way and they probably do not want to lose anything (although they are way, way in the black with their investment) and they do not get bonuses or stock options. Dunn is chairman of the BOD, so I'd guess he helped load the gun.... It's hard to override the COB.
