the fact that AMD is going up did not change AMD's risk profile. It is still a risky stock.

I do not doubt that intel would survive. But is it a good investment?

What do you think of the fact that intel is going after set-top boxes which are going to be priced at above $400 with their cashless pII?
Is not it is sort of funny that just few months ago intel was not interested in sub-1000 computers?

Indeed intel got more money to invest yet intel chooses at that moment to do a buyback instead.

AMD is definitely strapped for cash until this sec aproval of 1B in mixed offering. And even then they can not match intels buying power.
Yet AMD chooses to do partnerships instead. Alcatel deal is one of them. While Intel is looking at aware amd strike a deal with alcatel and TI bought amtx. Aware is not in the same category as AMTX and both of them together do not have the same level of recognition as Alcatel.

And do not forget that while intel is shooting for high margins, most of the market share and market control AMD would be happy with relatively low margins, modest market share and it got no plans for control
